Greetings from Pastor Jim
Welcome to Fort Saskatchewan Fellowship Baptist Church! As Anne and I move into our second year, we are grateful for the commitment of our church family to exalt God in his glorious supremacy, and to embrace and encourage one another as we walk together with God. We are glad for our opportunities to encourage and exhort one another in our joyful journey together: Prayer Meeting, Women’s and Men’s Bible groups, AWANA and Children’s Church, Women’s Coffee, Men’s Breakfast, and Sunday Morning Worship. You will be warmly welcomed to every gathering!
We begin a new year with a new Sunday Morning series entitled "The Big Story Begins." We are walking with Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph as we watch God choose one man (Abraham) and his family, through whom He promises to bless the world. In fact, we have noticed that the final sentence of Genesis 12:3 encapsulates God’s entire plan of redemption when He says to Abram: "In you all the families of the earth shall be blessed!"
It is stunning to realize that the most famous book (Genesis) within the world’s most famous book (the Bible) is the story of ONE FAMILY! Even more wonderful is the fact that for believers in Jesus Christ, it is OUR family story, because the apostle Paul says "if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring" (Galatians 3:29).
When the Lord told Abram: "In you all the families of the earth shall be blessed" (Genesis 12:3) He later added some clarification by saying "In your offspring shall all the nations of the earth be blessed" (Genesis 22:18). And 2000 years later, Paul clarified even more by saying that the ultimate fulfillment of the promised worldwide blessing comes through one single offspring of Abraham: Jesus Christ (Galatians 3:16).
As we begin 2014, we pray expectantly that this will be a season of blessing, as we cherish and exult in the greatest blessing and treasure of all: Jesus Christ, our Saviour, Lord, and King!
